Black Cat (Kal East) Case Study: Project & Milestones Map

This project is the ultimate proof point for the MMS marketing strategy. It perfectly demonstrates our ability to deliver results through flexible pathways, showcasing our evolution from a contractor to a solutions-driven, ‘mining partner’ and validating our “JV (Leverage)” and “Contract Mining (Foundation)” pillars.

1. The Strategic Narrative (Key Themes for the Case Study)

This is the “why.” The case study must be built around these core strategic messages, using the project facts as proof.

  • Theme 1: The Flexible JV Model (De-risking for the Client)
    • The “What”: This was not a standard contract. It was a strategic partnership where MMS provided 100% of the funding for development and hauling.
    • The “Why” (Client Benefit): Black Cat received the first $30M in cash flow (after cost recovery), de-risking the project for them and their investors. This is our key message to other “ASX-listed Mining Companies” and “Dealmakers.”
  • Theme 2: Rapid Mobilisation & Flawless Execution (The “Execution” Value8)
    • The “What”: MMS went from contract signing to first topsoil clearing in just 18 days (Signed May 20, Clear June 7). First ore was on the ROM pad just 13 days after that.
    • The “Why”: We don’t just promise; we deliver. We hit the ground running, completed site establishment and infrastructure within weeks, and started 24-hour operations by July 25, 2024.
  • Theme 3: Operational Excellence & Exceeding Targets (Smashing the Schedule)
    • The “What”: We delivered the first ore for hauling on August 13, 2024, a full two months ahead of the initial schedule (September 2024).
    • The “Proof”:
      • Initial ore delivery was 40% above the goal (14,000 tonnes).
      • We achieved a record-breaking month for earthmoving.
      • By Jan 2025, we had a 390kt BCM exceedance to schedule.
    • The “How”: Proactive mine planning, new Hitachi diggers, and productivity projects like “hot seating” and optimised shift changes.
  • Theme 4: A True Partner, Not Just a Contractor (Enabling Client Growth)
    • The “What”: Our accelerated mining and early ore delivery directly supported BC8’s growth strategy.
    • The “Why”: Our collaborative work to optimise mill delivery played a key role in enabling Black Cat’s acquisition of the Lakewood processing facility. Our success created their opportunity. This is how we “maximise project value.”
  • Theme 5: Safety & Responsibility as Standard
    • The “What”: The entire project was completed 3 months ahead of schedule with 0 LTIs and 0.0 TRIFR. The Boundary Pit was completed a month early with an “impeccable safety record.”
    • The “Why”: We embedded progressive rehabilitation directly into the active mine plan. It wasn’t an afterthought; it was “proactive, responsible mining in action.”
  • Theme 6: The Full Circle: JV Success to Contract of Choice
    • The “What”: Following the successful execution of Myhree and Boundary, Black Cat awarded MMS a new, three-year, full mine services contract at Fingals.
    • The “Why”: This is the ultimate testimonial. The JV partnership was so successful it proved our expertise, solidifying MMS as the “contract miner of choice” and validating our entire business model.

2. Project Milestone Map (The Story in Chronological Order)

Use this timeline to structure the video and web page narrative.

Phase 1: The Deal & The Promise (May 2024)

  • June 7: First clearing of topsoil.
  • June 20: First ore on ROM (Just 3 weeks after mobilisation).
  • July 25: 24-hour operations commence.
  • July 26: First ore mined and stockpiled.

Phase 3: Delivering Results (August – November 2024)
